VILLA LIEGNITZ, 2024
Photographic collage, skinned, ironed, ink, adhesive tape, dimensions: 78 x 108 cm, design
Fourth place in the “Kunst-am-Bau” competition for the entrance hall of Villa Liegnitz in Potsdam, Prussian Palaces and Gardens Foundation Brandenburg.
The design of the wall panel depicts a cubist-inspired transformation of the real architecture across the way. While the latter exudes clarity and tranquility, the depicted space appears ambiguous and fragmented, much like the history of the house, its renovations, and its inhabitants—including members of the Hohenzollern family and their contradictory role in German history. Historical image fragments are “woven” into photographs of the contemporary architecture. The chronology is disrupted by repetitions, fragmentations, and interlocking transitions.
