THE SECOND SKIN, 2006
Multi-part group of photographs (prints from 35mm negative), skinned, on aluminum, 100 x 70 cm and 100 x 70 cm, and on MDF, 30 x 45 cm
Using a scalpel, I scrape away parts of the photographic emulsion layer; I peel back the photograph and reveal its materiality. Alongside the white, fibrous backing paper, remnants of the image surface remain: the spiderweb-like pattern of the garment depicted and the skin visible between the layers of fabric.
